What exactly is a bambooless dhoop stick? →
A bambooless dhoop stick is made entirely from natural aromatic ingredients — resins, herbs, wood powders and botanical binders — with no bamboo core at its centre. Traditional agarbatti uses a bamboo stick as a scaffold; bambooless dhoop does not. The result is a cleaner burn, a more concentrated fragrance, and no charred bamboo smoke. All Zivanta dhoop sticks are bambooless and charcoal-free, handcrafted in Jharkhand.
What's the difference between dhoop and agarbatti? →
Agarbatti has a thin bamboo core coated with scented paste. Dhoop is bambooless — compressed entirely from aromatic ingredients. Dhoop burns longer (45–60 minutes versus 20–30 for agarbatti), produces a stronger and more natural fragrance, and creates none of the acrid bamboo smoke you sometimes notice with agarbatti. If you find conventional incense sticks too sharp or short-lived, bambooless dhoop is the step up.
Are Zivanta products charcoal free? →
Yes. Every Zivanta product is charcoal-free. We use only natural aromatic ingredients — resins, botanicals and traditional masala blends. No charcoal, no synthetic fillers, no harsh chemicals. This makes the fragrance cleaner, gentler and more natural — particularly important for enclosed spaces, children's rooms, or anyone sensitive to smoke.
Which fragrance is best for meditation and yoga? →
Grounding, earthy fragrances tend to work best for meditation because they anchor the mind without stimulating it. Kasturi (musk) and Shahi Chandan (sandalwood) from our Dhoop Sticks Collection are both deeply calming — sandalwood in particular has been used in Indian meditative traditions for centuries. From the World Collection, Serene Aura is crafted specifically for stillness and mindful spaces.
Which fragrance is best for pooja and daily prayer? →
Shahi Chandan (sandalwood) is the most traditional choice for pooja — sandalwood has been integral to Indian devotional practice for thousands of years. Kasturi is also widely used in prayer spaces for its warm, anchoring quality. Both burn for 45–60 minutes, giving you ample time for a full prayer ritual without needing to light a second stick.
How long do Zivanta dhoop sticks burn? →
45 to 60 minutes per stick. This is significantly longer than standard incense sticks, which typically burn for 20–30 minutes. The longer burn time comes from the bambooless construction — there is no bamboo core to rush through, so the entire stick is fragrant material, burning slowly and consistently.
